Philosophy

My art work depicts my feelings about New Zealand. I take five basic elements that represents New Zealand to me; beautiful greens found in the flax plant, rivers represented by river stones, paua from the sea with its beautiful blues and greens, the pacific influence of flax weaving, and finally beautiful rolling hills of which I have always been fascinated.

The colours are vivid, the lines clean and the images clear. I like to add textures and life to some pieces using items from the beach ; paua chips, pumice, green mussels and rams horns.

I have endless ideas about how I would like to interpret my feelings using these five elements in conjunction with other New Zealand icons; nikau palms, cabbage trees, ferns and fauna.
